Why EVERYBODY is horrible, a backstabber and jealous and why we should embrace it.

Machiavelli once said that humans are very jealous; they will plot your downfall and stab you in the back at every opportunity. This opinion, on the whole, is correct. When looking at today’s big businesses, there is much corruption and greed. The strong survive by taking shortcuts, stabbing people in the back and walking all over the corpses. People are made to compete; they are made to want to be better than the other people surrounding them. Darwin’s theory of ‘survival of the fittest’ is 100% correct when looking at life in this way. If the weak triumphed, then their genes would not be weeded out of the gene pool. The future of mankind would be even weaker! Competition is vital to the survival of a strong mankind – as is stabbing in the back and the crushing of opponents. Nature dictates that the strong survive in society. Jealousy is built in to humans to encourage competition.

People strive to have strong levels of Survival and Replication value. Survival value is the ability to look after the family and one’s own being. Replication value is the ability to produce strong and healthy offspring. Men and Woman assess people’s Survival and Replication Value every day. Every person that you meet will assess Survival and Replication value. YOU will do this. You will decide many things, is this person someone I would like to replicate with? Is this person a potential threat to my survival values? Is this person better looking than me and hence demonstrates higher replication value than me? Even if you believe you don’t do this, well, you do! It is built into your genes, it is in your blood, and it is an essential part of being a human. Everybody wants to make the best of what they have; they want to show that they are a survivor and that they are the best. How do you show you are the best? Money and health!

It is easier to explain this theory with the use of a short story. Imagine that tomorrow it was announced that a deadly virus would be unleashed on the earth. The virus would kill anyone who inhaled it in an instance. Hence if you didn’t inhale the virus, you would not die. Scientists estimate that the virus would be dead within three weeks of being on the earth’s surface. This means that if you could survive for three weeks in an airtight environment, not coming into contact with anything that may be contaminated, then you would survive. The strong in society – the ones with high Survival and Replication value would ultimately survive. They would have the money to create the air tight zone, and escape the virus. They would have the health to be able to physically do everything necessary to escape the virus. They would also be able to protect their family and help them survive. They would demonstrate the Replication value to be able to reproduce when the virus had gone and create more ‘strong’ individuals. The weak in society would not demonstrate the correct Survival and Replication values and hence would be killed by the virus. If weak people did survive they would have done it with the aid of a strong individual. This could be perceived as charity and hence go against the whole theory of this article that people are horrible, jealous and backstabbers. However these issues occur in charity and are often about power, another possession of a strong individual – but that is an article in itself.

It is not an easy task to explain the Survival and Replication theory in such a short article, but look at this as a ‘taster’, think about the issues that have been addressed. Do you agree? Why don’t you agree? What do you agree with? There are loops and holes admittedly, but these can be addressed by philosophising. This article has hopefully helped you understand why people constantly compete, back stab, are jealous and hoarders. The next time you come across a jealous individual, don’t get angry, be happy that humans are going strong; as a race we are SURVIVING and REPLICATING!
